Replacing characters in a string between a given start index and a given end index
I have a method which replaces characters in a string between a given start index and a given end index.
For example: If given indices are 1 and 3, the string ‘abc’ between those two indices is replaced by ‘def’. So, the result should be ‘bcdef’
This is what I have done so far:
public static String replaceBetween(String s, int startIndex, int endIndex,
String content) {
// Get the string between the indices
String between = s.substring(startIndex, endIndex);
// Get the content and remove the above string
String newContent = s.replace(between, content);
return newContent;
}
But this method is not working for a case such as
If startIndex and endIndex are both 0, then the result should be ‘abcd’ but the output is ‘bcd’.
How can I fix this?

The problem is that you are replacing a substring with something and then returning the original string.
