Adobe has continued to update the Photoshop product line. With each new version, Photoshop features have continued to expand. Photoshop Elements is the lightest of the three products, and is still actively supported. Why do I need Photoshop for Graphic Design? Photos are graphic design. Photos are mostly used as a method for expressing information using a visual representation. Many photos are created, and composed in other Graphic Design software. Textures are blends of colors. They can be applied to the surface of an image by using the Paint Bucket tool. The Pen Tool allows you to draw lines, shapes and arcs. It is one of the most important tools in Photoshop. The Brush Tool or Pencil tool is good for drawing straight lines, circles, ellipses, squares and other shapes. It is not considered an eraser tool. The Spot Healing Brush allows you to remove unwanted blemishes on the surface of an image. It is like a magnifying glass and can be used on small or large areas. The Eraser lets you remove portions of an image by highlighting them and then pressing the Delete key. You can also delete pixels with the Eraser tool by dragging the border around. Resizing images is a common task. The Image Size dialog box allows you to change the size of an image. The Freeform Lasso tool, which looks like a lasso, allows you to select small portions of an image and move them around the screen. The Crop tool allows you to cut out portions of the image and paste them into a new location. The Marquee tool enables you to select an area of a document and easily crop it away. You can apply a gradient to an image by using a Gradient tool. The Gradient tool allows you to make a gradient as you drag across the screen. You can change the colors of the gradient by moving the cursor away from the color you want and then clicking the color you want. You can create a variety of different gradient styles by clicking different positions on the gradient. The Gradient Editor enables you to create your own custom gradients that you can use to apply color to your images. The Dodge and Burn tools allow you to lighten or darken your images. You can use these tools to lighten the areas of a photograph that are too dark or darken the ones that are too light. Remember the $32,000 that you spent for your organic facelift? According to a recent Life and Style UK article, you might be able to extend that bill by $7,000 or more for a Botox facelift. The article was about a woman who can now afford to spend up to £12,000 on her Botox treatment. (According to the U.K. government, the cost of living is actually cheaper than the U.S. and the average citizen pays $3,000 for a Botox treatment—and it’s only a fraction of the estimated cost for those who need multiple treatments.) But I hate to break it to you—a Botox treatment isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. “The process of getting ready for a Botox treatment can be draining for your time and your body, so it’s no surprise that many customers say they have to repeat the process every six to 12 months,” says Poonam Mehra, senior manager of Clarity Cosmeceuticals, the company that manufactures NuDerm. “It’s a common complaint we hear from our clients—we’re all to blame. As the world’s first true anti-aging skincare, NuDerm was engineered to give you the best results the first time.” My problems are small. I have fine lines and a few wrinkles around my eyes. I don’t have them on my forehead—they’re more along the outside of my eyes. No Botox for me. There are complications with that technique that haven’t been discussed yet. Here’s what you need to know: Technically, there are two types of Botox injections. They are: 1. Axillary (inside of the armpit) 2. Interlaser (near the eye, between the eyebrows) I spoke with Dr. Lisette Greenstein, a board-certified dermatologist, about the difference between the two, and she says that they are two different treatments. “An axillary injection targets problems around the armpit, including a smooth fold of skin over the breast,” she says. “It’s a fascial and muscular problem, which can make it more difficult to achieve the look you desire. An interlaser injection targets the muscular
