FlyCapDS is a Windows utility that captures the video from a
device (or input file) to file (directshow based player) using the
DirectShow capturing framework. The output file is video with
standard bit depth and with default video codec. With FlyCapDS it is
possible to define several different settings such as the video
dimensions, bit depth, frames per second, etc. If the capture is
performed using the video input pin of the DirectShow application,
the capture process is standard and the video is synchronized with
the audio. If a camera flash is used, the video (and audio) output
is synchronized by emitting a still image at the beginning of the
video (taking a picture of the digital camera’s viewfinder, if
available).

Internet Explorer has its own built-in functionality for capturing the digital camera’s viewfinder images.
