Reivew by Mingyuan It’s hard to say anything with certainty just yet, since this is a very early alpha of the game, but what I’ve played so far has certainly intrigued me. This is not your standard fantasy sandbox title, but rather a true MMORPG in the vein of the Elder Scrolls or World of Warcraft. Erden Heroes is a clan-based fantasy MMO set in a pre-curser age of the world, where humans and monsters co-exist with the Elden, a race of immense, winged elder gods. It’s still very early in the game’s development, but as a representative of the style of game I’m most interested in, I think it has a lot of promise. The game is browser-based, so there’s no download required. The game is Flash, but it’s the standard Flash players are familiar with, not the newly implemented HTML5 one, so you don’t lose anything by using a Flash game. There’s an amount of resource allocation in the game that seems more than sufficient, with the graphics not so laggy, but certainly nothing difficult to put up with. The storyline itself consists of characters and mission-based areas, and characters will be able to play the role of monsters themselves once they’ve ascended to the status of an Elden lord. You can raise your own creatures (called “Mofos,” for Minfosu in Japanese), or join a clan where players will do all the work for you, just like in the real world. A clan and its Mofos go their own separate ways, so you can pick and choose which one you want to join. Mofos can also be leveled up to various levels, unlocking items that get you closer to becoming an Elden lord. As I said, this is a very early alpha, so I don’t have a lot of time to play it yet, so I have only been able to play in about half a dozen of the seven clans and only at the demo’s second level, but I did have a great time with it. I think the clans that are currently available are really well-made. They have a lot of various features that the player can participate in, in a way that the player can really experience for themselves how a clan functions, such as the collection of various types of fruits, hunting animals, and production items.
