“Jigsaw Puzzle VR” (JPVR) brings the classic jigsaw puzzle experience to VR. Any image from your PC or even from the internet can be turned into a puzzle. You must place the pieces on a grid to create a complete puzzle. Gravity can be turned off to aid in this, or play fully simulated in VR. Select the grid pattern from the options menu and tap the puzzle to begin. As you proceed, you will be able to see a 3D representation of the puzzle. Rotate the puzzle to look at from any angle. Puzzles can be saved (undo), and can be replayed later. As you progress through the puzzles, the options menu will slowly disappear. The online board is reset each time you start a new puzzle. What’s new in this version: Added a “Guest Rooms” feature where 3 new puzzles can be built whenever a user submits a puzzle (with permission). Added “Save/Load Game” feature, allowing users to save puzzles they have unlocked, along with resetting the online board for each new game. Added a timer when in VR mode, to allow users to become engrossed in the puzzle while not touching the table. Optimized the game so that the image is always rendered at a consistent quality, even when there are multiple pieces on the grid, which can greatly improve performance. ————————– An utterly immersive Survival-Puzzle Adventure in which the player controls their own story, exploring 3D procedurally-generated landscapes and surviving by their wits. The gameplay is minimalistic yet packed with emergent structure and pensively paced survival mechanics that will challenge even the most seasoned of players. Silence is a first person, survival game set on a randomly generated island filled with dangerous creatures. Key features: ——————- The game is entirely created with the Unreal Engine, using artists to create the world and the player character. The player character has a first-person view with a range of different movement and locomotion techniques, and is not a pre-rendered, isometric character. Several different environments are procedurally generated and mixed into each others. The game uses simple, 2D art assets. The game features asynchronous multiplayer. The server is responsible for the worlds and the player’s PC hosts the player-controlled character. The player’s PC will be able to control the character’s movement, speech, weapons, inventory and any other in-game features. Development ————————— The game has been in development since 2005, with 5 years in total. Firstly, the title was titled “Sonofpiss” as a test title. In 2012, I released a demo titled “The Day of Silence” of 400MB for low-spec PC’s. Later the game received a formal title – “Silence”. The demo featured a short story, and the main gameplay was decided after this. The game has been in development on and off for the last 4 years, and about half of the development time has been spent in fairly stable feature development. In addition to this, I also wrote the game’s features and activities for the “The Day of Silence” demo. After the game went from a single-man project to a team project, the game had a serious identity crisis. Because of this, the game has been under a lot of development – this is the last point in the game’s evolution. UI Concept ————– Silence has an essentially non-linear gameplay – it’s a game with a lot of meaningful choices, but no “big” choices. The game has a largely minimalist graphics style and an isometric view. The player is dropped on a random generated island and has three primary objectives.
