The aim of the present study was to evaluate the role of the intraoperative coronal angle (CA) and C2-3 sagittal Cobb angle (C2-3S) in the prediction of the actual deformity correction in patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) undergoing posterior correction with Cotrel-Dubousset (Cotrel-Dubousset) instrumentation. The CA and C2-3S were measured using true lateral radiographs taken at the end of posterior correction with Cotrel-Dubousset instrumentation in 25 consecutive patients with AIS with a mean age of 13.8 years (range, 9-18 years) and a mean preoperative Cobb angle of 49.7 degrees (range, 22-75 degrees) (AIS group). The correction rate (CR) was calculated as (T1-T0)/T0 x 100. The mean CR was 46.6% (range, 18.6%-67.9%), which was achieved during a follow-up of 5.5 years (range, 3.5-10.5 years).
